CBR-101 MAIN PCB BOARD

The new MB consolidated the AC input filter PWA and the original MB. The new MB fit in original location, however the AC cord and fuse are mounted in opposite side of base housing. Making this work was not too bad but required some added cable on my part. The part that I did not like was the nag software, that requires you to press the time button when it starts beeping otherwise it goes into cool mode. This is no bueno as this happens at least twice during a roasting cycle. The firmware also does not have a stop mode anymore and the only way to stop is to pull the power cord. Both of these features maybe a safety feature but should not be forced onto a user. Overall, the new MB has the Gene cafe up and running again.

Best part was customer service.(exceptional)

New board has safety features added, first two making unattended roasting a thing of the past.
The third feature / annoyance is the cooling feature, whereas you can't pull the roast until the unit has reached a cooling temperature of 225 degrees, or thereaboiuts. God only knows what bureaucrat imposed that feature but it's the reason for the less than stellar rating.
Anyway converting from old cb to new cb was not exactly straightforward, but successful after all. New transformer was necessary, perhaps a new fuse block,rewiring / rerouting the power wires inside. Sort of a new machine afterwards, it eliminates the rear circuit board that was the landing pas for the heater and power connections, hence the rewiring scenario.The transformer mounting wings do not match but will mount securely enough with one screw.
All in all, back in business, again customer service was exceptional.

I had a roaster that I had purchased in 2007. I had to replace the main PCB board last month. Unfortunately, the current and voltages were not the same and the board fried rendering my roaster useless.

I still like the Gene Cafe roaster and it is worth purchasing. Just be aware that changes occur and make the necessary adjustments.
